The U.S. Embassy in Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe is pleased to announce the arrival of Ambassador James Story as Charge d'Affaires, a.i. (Acting Chief of Mission). Ambassador Story joins the Mission at a critical juncture, while our bilateral cooperation and advance shared priorities across a wide range of sectors continue to deepen.

Ambassador Story's arrival comes just weeks after the departure of former U.S. Ambassador Tulinabo Mushingi, whose tenure in Angola concluded upon his retirement. As we await the arrival of a new U.S. Ambassador to Angola, currently undergoing the confirmation process in the U.S. Senate, Ambassador Story will lead the U.S. diplomatic efforts, ensuring continuity and momentum in our partnership.

In his role as Charge d'Affaires, Ambassador Story will oversee a busy period of engagement, with both Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, across economic, health, security, and governance sectors. The U.S. Mission is actively involved in several key initiatives, and the ongoing bilateral cooperation will benefit from the leadership and expertise Ambassador Story brings to the team.
